Easily create custom cost groupings using an intuitive visual interface.
New feature alert! Cloudthread is launching Cloud Cost Rules Engine. Now you can easily set up cost allocation rules and complex grouping using an intuitive interface.
That is why we have built the Rules Engine – a convenient visual custom cost allocation interface. It allows you to create custom cost tags within the Cloudthread platform and apply them to any Cost View or Unit Metric.
Tagging is an essential part of the cloud cost visibility foundation, but even if you got it right, many reporting and analytical situations still need to be supported by a single cost allocation tag layer. An excellent example of such a situation is the need for a particular custom cost grouping. Let's say your accounting stakeholders need to see all the R&D cloud spending separate from the costs attributed to CoGS. You can indeed have resource-level tags that support such an allocation, but this will be a hassle, especially considering the variety of similar needs: you cannot have a unique tag for any grouping you can run into – CUR file will explode at some point.
That is why (and based on the requests from our users, of course) we have built the Rules Engine – a convenient visual custom cost allocation interface. It allows you to create custom cost tags within the Cloudthread platform and apply them to any Cost View or Unit Metric. To make the tag creation process more accessible, we have developed the notion of Rules that can be created by a visual split of any available data source (AWS billing, GCP billing, AWS CloudWatch, Custom Data API, and more) and dimensions belonging to it.
We have already got great reviews of the new feature and saw it solve complex cost allocation problems for our clients. Undoubtedly, Cloudthread Rules Engine will also fit your custom reporting needs.
